Customer Showcase: Oakland Hills Mid-Century Home with Floating Vanities

Bright mid-century modern living room with wood front door, white sofa, neutral armchairs, geometric rug, and large windows for natural light.

Introduction

Perched on Crest Avenue in the Oakland Hills, this thoughtfully remodeled residence blends mid-century modern character with contemporary luxury. Expansive windows and an open-concept floor plan flood the home with natural light, enhancing the sense of space and connection between rooms. Carefully chosen finishes add warmth and sophistication, while floating vanities from O&N Floating Vanity elevate the bathroom design—combining practicality with designer appeal.

A Mid-Century Modern Refresh

The renovation was guided by a vision of honoring the home’s architectural roots while bringing it into today’s design standards. The Belgian Floating Vanity was chosen as a centerpiece for its mid-century detailing—clean edges, rich wood tones, and striking hardware that pairs beautifully with textured tile backdrops. In another bathroom, the Sottile Floating Vanity was installed, its slim profile and beveled frame creating a sense of lightness while maximizing usable space.

Interior Design Perspective

Floating vanities are more than just functional. In this project, they redefine the bathrooms by:

  • Opening the floor plan – creating more visual space and flow.
  • Highlighting craftsmanship – warm wood finishes soften the sleek geometry.
  • Balancing utility with elegance – deep storage and durable countertops paired with refined design details.

Together, the Belgian and Sottile collections provide a seamless balance of bold presence and understated minimalism, echoing the architectural language of the rest of the home.
