Floating Vanity FAQs: Sizing, Installation, Shipping & Buying Guide
Find answers to the most common questions about floating bathroom vanities, including sizing, installation, shipping, returns, countertops, and product care.

Buying a Floating Vanity
What size floating vanity do I need?
The right size depends on your available wall space, clearance requirements, and sink configuration. Most bathrooms work well with a 24"–48" single-sink vanity, while double-sink setups typically require a minimum of 60". Always confirm you have at least 21" of clearance in front of the vanity and that the wall framing can support the mounting location before finalizing your selection.

Are floating vanities good for small bathrooms?
Yes. Floating vanities are a strong choice for small bathrooms because they leave visible floor space underneath the cabinet, which can make the room feel more open and less crowded.

Are floating bathroom vanities worth it?
For most projects, yes. Floating vanities create a cleaner, more modern aesthetic, make small bathrooms feel larger by exposing floor space, and simplify cleaning underneath. The main trade-offs are a more involved installation that requires solid wall backing and precise plumbing rough-in, as well as a slightly higher cost than comparable freestanding units. For clients prioritizing design, ease of maintenance, and a spa-like feel, the investment is generally well worth it.

What is the difference between a floating vanity and a freestanding vanity?
A floating vanity is wall-mounted with no floor contact, creating an open space beneath that makes the bathroom feel larger and easier to clean — but requires solid wall framing for proper support. A freestanding vanity sits directly on the floor, offering more storage and simpler installation since it doesn't depend on wall structure, but can make a space feel heavier and is harder to clean around the base.
Do floating vanities provide enough storage?
Floating vanities can provide adequate storage for most bathrooms, but it depends on vanity size, drawer configuration, and how well supplemental storage is planned. Drawer-heavy layouts maximize usability, and pairing the vanity with recessed medicine cabinets, linen towers, or open shelving beneath the unit ensures storage needs are fully met - especially in primary baths without a nearby linen closet.

Floating Vanity Installation
How high should a floating vanity be installed?
The standard installation height for a floating vanity is 36" from the floor to the top of the counter, which works well for most average adult heights. One of the advantages of a floating design is the flexibility to adjust the mount height to suit the household. For families with young children, consider dropping to 32" to 34" to make the sink more accessible

How do you mount a floating vanity?
A floating vanity should be securely mounted into wall studs or proper structural blocking. The installer should confirm that the wall can support the vanity, countertop, sink, and normal daily use before installation.

Can a floating vanity be installed on drywall?
A floating vanity should not be mounted only to drywall. It must be anchored into wall studs, blocking, or another suitable structural support system. Drywall alone is not strong enough to support the weight of a floating vanity.
How much weight can a floating vanity hold?
Most floating vanities can support 200 to 500 lbs when properly mounted into wall studs or a solid backing board. The actual weight capacity depends on the mounting hardware, wall construction, and installation quality.

Can I install a floating vanity myself?
It's possible for an experienced DIYer, but floating vanities are more demanding than freestanding units. A successful installation requires locating and mounting into wall studs or installing a backing board, making precise plumbing connections, and ensuring the unit is perfectly level before securing. For most clients, hiring a licensed contractor and plumber is the safer choice to avoid wall damage, leaks, or a vanity that isn't structurally sound over time.
Countertops, Sinks, and Plumbing
Do your vanities include the countertop and sink?
Most O&N vanity models include the countertop and integrated sink, unless the product page states otherwise. Please review the specific product description before ordering, as some collections or options may vary.
Can I order a vanity without the countertop?
For many collections, you may be able to order the vanity without the countertop by using the no-sink-top code on the checkout page or the code shown on the product page. Availability depends on the specific model.
Can I order a countertop without a predrilled faucet hole?
All our countertops come with pre-drilled faucet holes. If you are planning a wall-mount faucet setup, we recommend ordering the vanity without the countertop using the no-sink-top code on the product page or at checkout, then sourcing a countertop that fits your configuration separately.
What is the standard drain hole size for your vanity sinks?
Our vanity sinks come with a standard 1-3/4" drain hole, which is compatible with most pop-up drain assemblies.
Shipping and Delivery
How long does it take to receive a floating vanity?
Most orders take 7 to 10 business days for preparation and transit, depending on your location and carrier scheduling. Once the shipment reaches your local terminal, the carrier will contact you directly to arrange a delivery appointment.
What shipping method do you use?
Most vanity orders ship via LTL freight with liftgate service. Freight shipping is used for larger, heavier vanities because it provides the protection and handling that standard parcel carriers cannot accommodate.
Where do your products ship from?
Most orders ship from our warehouse network across the United States, typically from California, Illinois, or New York based on product availability and your delivery destination.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, we offer free shipping to the contiguous United States. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship to Alaska or Hawaii at this time.
Can I track my order?
Yes. Once your order ships, tracking information will be sent to your email. You can also log into your account at any time to view order status updates.
